The New VW Beetle has now been launched, and the automotive community has received it with excitement.
Unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show, the 2012 Beetle is perhaps the evil twin of the previous bubbly version. Whilst still retaining those cute and decidedly “Beetle” characteristics, the new arrival boasts a longer, lower and wider shape with a lot more edgy sporty attitude. In essence, the new design pays homage to the very best bits of the VW Beetle in all incarnations, but brings a modern vibe to the vintage shape.
Along with looking smarter, the new Beetle launch has some great spec changes too. It is available in four versions - three petrol (a 1.2-litre TSI 105 PS, a 1.4-litre TSI 160 PS and a 2.0-litre TSI 200 PS) and one diesel (a 1.6-litre 105 PS with BlueMotion Technology). These sporty and efficient engines support a spacious 4 seater interior with a nice roomy boot, bigger than it has ever been before. It’s fancy too – with all the gear and technology that you would expect in a gorgeous new car.
